Diamond Jubilee Cup (presented by Alderman Mrs. V Jones JP when Mayor of Hastings) For the performer with the highest mark in any solo class open to professionals.

1977 Silver Jubilee Cup (A reminder of the debt owed to the host of voluntary helpers) For the performer with the highest mark in any solo class open only to amateurs. Any age.

The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Cup For outstanding achievement in the Hastings Musical Festival 2016

SINGING

Lord Blanesburgh Vocal Challenge Trophy  For the highest aggregate mark obtained from classes 2220 or 2224, (Oratorio) and 2200 (Slavonic) and 2196 (Lieder) Age 18 and over.

Winifred Dixon Memorial Cup For the most promising singer between the ages of 18 and 25.

The Muriel Jobson Trophy For the most promising singer between the ages of 15 and 18.

The Derek Hibbert Challenge Trophy For the performer with the highest aggregate mark obtained from an Operatic and three other Open Singing Classes (excluding Pop Vocal, Show Song, Recital and Gold Medal). At least two of the qualifying performances must be sung in a foreign language.

Junior Singing Cup For the performer aged 12 and under 16 with the highest aggregate mark for a Solo Show Song class and one other solo singing class (not pop vocal).

SINGING AND INSTRUMENT

Miss W Davenport Silver Challenge Cup For the highest aggregate mark for singing in classes No 2036 or 2040 and playing in any solo instrumental class under 16.

PIANO OR SINGING WITH SPEECH

The Charters Ancaster Twin Trophy  (presented by Charters-Ancaster College in 1986 to commemorate the merger of the two schools) To be awarded to a girl aged 8 and under 12 with highest aggregate mark for her performance in one of the Speech classes 4024 to 4032 or 4068 to 4080, and one of the Singing classes 2016 to 2028, or one of the Piano classes 3012 to 3024.

PIANO

Mrs. A Skellorn Challenge Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark obtained from one of the classes 3008 to 3024 and Class 31 68 (Sight reading) Age under 12.

Jean Cracknell Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark from one of the classes 3008 to 3036 (piano) and one of the classes 3084 to 3092 (Sonatina) age under 15.

Michael Matthews Challenge Cup For the performer with highest aggregate mark from any three classes selected from: 3044, 3048, 3112, 3120.

Charles Cracknell Memorial Cup: For the performer with highest aggregate mark obtained from classes 3096, 3108, and 3128. Age under 16.

The European Piano Teachers Association Cup For the most promising pianist nominated by the Adjudicator.

The Marjorie Skellorn Memorial Trophy (presented by Mr. W Potter) For the performer with the highest mark in one of the Open Solo Piano classes Nos. 3116, 3120, 3144, 3164. Any age.

The Janet Cratchley Memorial Trophy (presented by her family) For the performer with the highest mark in any solo piano class not open to professionals.

The Sellens Contemporary Cup For the highest mark in any Piano Contemporary Class.

STRINGS

Monica Langham Silver Challenge Cup For the performer considered to show the most musical promise in the Strings Solo section.

ACCORDION

Keith Harling School of Accordionists Challenge Cup For the performer with the highest mark in any accordion solo class. Any age.

ELECTRONIC ORGAN OR KEYBOARD

Tony Akehurst Cup For the performer who obtains the highest mark in any solo Electronic Organ or solo Keyboard class. (Marks in “Any age” classes will be considered.) Age under 16.

Alan Wootton Trophy For the performer who obtains the highest mark in any solo Electronic Organ or solo Keyboard class. (Marks in “Any age” classes will be considered.) Age over 16.

The Tony Back Memorial Trophy For the most promising Electronic Organ or solo Keyboard player nominated by the Adjudicator.

The William Parker Centenary Trophy For the highest mark in any Band class.

SPEECH AND DRAMA

Anthony Hawtrey Challenge Cup (presented by Miss Gwen Watford) For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark from classes 4052 (Prose) and either, 4076 or 4080 (Humorous Verse) or 4104 (Dramatic Dialogue) and one of the classes 4028 or 4032. Age under 13.

Stella Curran Challenge Cup: For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark from classes 4056 (Prose) and either, 4084 or 4088 or 4092 (Humorous Verse) or 4108 (Dramatic Dialogue). Age 12 and under 15.

Stella Curran Memorial Trophy: For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark from classes 4144 (Lyrical) and 4060 (Prose), and either 4092 or 4096 (Humorous Verse) or 4112 (Dramatic Dialogue), age 15 and under 18.

Tom Cup (a reminder of the help given by the stage staff at WRT) For the performance obtaining the highest mark in Mime classes 4276, 4280 or 4284. Any age.

Commedia Dell’Arte Cup For the performer(s) obtaining the highest mark in any Mime Solo or Mime Duologue class. (Any age).

The Dorothy Catt Memorial Cup (presented by Miss Gwen Watford) For the highest aggregate mark obtained by the most versatile performer who without necessarily obtaining the highest marks in individual classes, enters two or more speech and drama solo classes one being Shakespeare, Aged 12 and under 18.

The Harlequin Banner For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark from classes 4104 and 4116 and 4248 or 4252. Age under 12.

The Harlequin Shield For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark from classes 4108, 4120 and 4132. Age 12 and under 15.

The Harlequin Trophy For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark from classes 4112, 4124 and 4136. Age 15 and under 18.

The Hastings Stage Studio Cup  (presented by Vanessa Slacke) For the performer obtaining the highest mark in any solo Dramatic Dialogue class. Any age.

The Sarah Hearn Memorial Trophy (presented by Charters-Ancaster College) For the entrant who has shown the most promising work. Age 11 and under 15. Nominated by the Adjudicator.

The Gareth Veness Trophy For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark in Classes 4120 and 4132 and 4256. Age 12 and under 15.

The Adjudicator’s Fancy  (presented by Miss Hilary Crowson) For a child under 12, not necessarily a class winner, who has entered a number of classes in both speech and drama and has shown aptitude.

The Bodiam Manor School Challenge Cup For the performer obtaining the highest aggregate mark in classes 4025 or 4028 (Speech) and 4048 (Prose) and 4068 or 4072. Age 8 and under 10.

DANCING

Janice Blake Cup For the performer obtaining a mark of 80 or over in any Baby Class: 1000, 1004, 1008 or 1012. Age under 6.

Joyce Percy Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark from solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Character and National classes. Age under 12.

Marjorie Davies Challenge Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark from solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Character and National classes. Age 12 and under 15.

Lillian Hainsworth Challenge Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Character and National classes. Age 15 and under 20.

Carol Wootton Memorial Trophy For the performer with the highest aggregate mark from solo dancing in Tap and Modern Musical classes. Age under 12.

Jean Frecker Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in Tap and Modern Musical. Age 12 and under 15.

Nicolaeva Legat Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Character classes. Age 12 and over.

Nada Cup (presented by Miss M Eldridge) For the performer with the highest mark in the Greek Dancing classes. Any age.

Mabel Bouquet Silver Challenge Cup For the performer with the highest mark in the Classical Ballet dancing classes. Any age.

Ambury School Trophy For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in all disciplines excluding Lyrical. Age under 11 .

Irene Spillett Cup  For the performer with the highest mark in the Greek dancing classes. Age under 12.

Bell Memorial Cup (presented by Mrs. Pat Pern) For the most promising dancer under 14.

Debbie Morris Tap Cup For the performer with the highest mark in the solo Tap dancing classes. Any age.

Dorita Barrett Shield For the MALE performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Character and National classes. Age 14 and over.

Edna Glazier Silver Challenge Cup (presented by Mr. F Glazier and family) For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Greek dancing classes. Age 9 and over.

Annette Mitchell Challenge Cup (presented by Mrs. J Mitchell) For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in the Character and National classes. Age 12 and over.

Molly Bernard Memorial Challenge Cup (presented by the pupils of the Phyllis Godfrey School of Dancing) For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Character classes. Age 12 and over.

Christine Eastman Challenge Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in all disciplines excluding Lyrical. Age under 12.

Harold Eastman Challenge Cup For the performer with the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in all disciplines. Age 12 and over.

Andrew Stevens Cup (presented by Eileen and Fred Stevens) For the MALE performer with the highest mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet classes. Any age.

The Vanessa Slacke Cup (presented by Mrs. A Slacke and the Hastings Stage Studio) For the highest aggregate mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet and Character and National and Greek and Modern and Tap classes. Age 15 and over.

The Schroeder Memorial Challenge Cup (presented by Susan and Elizabeth Schroeder) For the performer with the highest mark for solo dancing in the Character classes. Any age.

The Wendy Cameron Trophy For the performer with the highest mark for solo dancing in the Classical Ballet classes. Age under 12.

The Thomas Quinnell Cup For the performer with highest mark for solo dancing in the National Dancing classes. Any age.

The Mildred Eldridge Memorial Trophy (presented by Susan and Elizabeth Schroeder and Mr. Tony Recknell) For the most outstanding performance of the festival in any Dance class including medal classes. Any age.

The Phyllis Godfrey Memorial Trophy (presented by Anne Slacke and Pauline Ash) For the most promising dancer in Ballet and Character. Age 14 and over.

The Pamela de Waal Shield  For the performer with the highest mark for solo dancing in the Modern Musical classes. Any age.

The Kitty Weguelin Memorial Cup For the performer gaining the highest mark in Classical Ballet. Age 15 and over.

The Derek Leonard Horscroft Memorial Cup For the most promising dancer in Modern and Tap. Age 14 and over.

 

GIFT MEMBERSHIP AWARDS

The Ivy’s Seat Award
A yearly award, presented by her family, in memory of Mrs Ivy Krzak who was a keen supporter of the Festival for many years. It is presented in the form of free membership of the Festival for one year to a Senior Citizen who has given similar longstanding support.

The Joyce’s Seat Award
A yearly award, presented by Mrs. Joyce Rickets, who has enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in the Festival for many years, which gives free membership of the Festival for one year to a senior citizen to enjoy the same benefits.

The Bernice’s Seat Award
A yearly award, presented in memory of Bernice Shorrocks, who was a keen supporter of the Festival for many years. It is presented by her family and gives a free membership of the Festival for one year, to a senior citizen to enjoy the great entertainment that the Festival provides.

The first Wednesday of the month between 10.30 & 11.30am until September 1st,
after which the office will be open each Wednesday from 10.30am till 12.30pm until the end of March 2017.
